The Cinematheque received a bomb threat in the mid-'90s, from someone protesting "Bosna," a documentary about tensions in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Police came and searched the auditorium. No bomb. The screening went on as planned. It involves a long, hard to watch film and a testy Russian. And among them was this young rising director, Aleksandr Sokurov. I think this was his first trip to America, and his first appearance on a stage as a visiting filmmaker was in the Aitken Auditorium. We showed his third film, 'Save and Protect.
